After a great career of 30 years in the IT industry, a move to a completely different sector. For some an unexpected step, for me a new chapter. In all my previous sales related jobs the unexpected was always something I embraced. One of my standard questions was (and is) always: and why won't it work? The answer to this question is also the answer to the question how it will work! Interim Management is all about the unexpected. When you have a long time to come up with a solution, there is not much unexpected left. You have all the time to prepare yourself, the organization and other stakeholders for what is coming. When you have to switch from one moment to the next, the unexpected is the only thing that remains. And that's when I feel like a fish in water. What are we going to do now to have a solution tomorrow? “Be curious” I always told my teams. Curiosity reveals the question behind the question, maybe even the “naked truth”. I naturally like to work with people to jointly discover that truth. It is never 1 person who has the only right answer. Even the most creative person often needs someone else to trigger that creativity. I like to be the one who is triggered and, together with my clients, comes up with creative solutions for unexpected problems.
