Biography
Dan has worked for over 25 years as a commodities analyst in the consultancy and banking sectors. In his role his main responsibilities include assisting the global research team with industry advice and candidate referrals; writing thought leadership research pieces; presenting at conferences as a subject-matter expert and leading on the delivery of quantitative/data-driven research and advisory work for clients. Prior to Swann, Dan was Director of Commodity Services at Oxford Economics where he headed up a team responsible for industry and price forecasts across energy markets and the metals and mining sector. He regularly presented at international conferences and at board-level meetings and spoke on major TV channels about commodity market trends and issues. Before this Dan was Head of Metals Research at Standard Chartered, where he worked closely with sales and trading teams, advising on market positioning across options, futures and physical trading books. He advised clients in the metals and mining sector on price and market trends. Through 2008 to 2014 he was one of the most accurate forecasters of base and precious metals, according to Bloomberg. He has an Economics degree from the University of Birmingham and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
