Simon Hall founded Stonehaven in 2008 to focus on delivering outstanding searches and exemplary client service, rather than have the management distractions of a large multi-office firm. Previously he had been instrumental, as Global Managing Partner, in doubling the revenues of the global FIG practice at Heidrick & Struggles. Setting up Stonehaven at the heart of the financial crash, Simon was lucky to be supported by loyal clients and a small team and the business went from strength to strength. Originally Stonehaven focused on financial services, but Simon rapidly took the business into new and adjacent areas, starting with technology and moving into most functions and competencies across businesses large or small, public or private, international or domestic. He personally drove the growth of the Board Practice, where the rationale is to ensure that boards have access to the best possible talent irrespective of gender, race or creed. The search work is supported by a Board Programme which helps train and mentor first time Directors to plc boards, and which is delivered in conjunction with leading legal and accounting firms. He has also built a board advisory capability to complement the core search operation. Simon remains closely involved in the execution of all our Board searches. Separately, Simon has presided over the development of a team of experts who, between them, lead practice areas across the core competencies, functions and sectors. Under Simon’s leadership, the firm has built a strong presence in North America with an office in New York and has embedded in the business the principle of enduring relationships and exemplary execution. His personal network is extensive, and he has supported a broad range of leaders build their boards and businesses. Simon is equally at ease in a corporate boardroom, a PE house, a bank, a family office or with the trustees of leading charities or government agencies, always with the objective of supporting the leaders of today while spotting and helping develop those of tomorrow.
