Biography
In the mid 2000’s, you would have found me content in my role at a Fortune 100 company, blessed to have access to volunteer and give back to our community. 2013 proved to be a year for self-reflection and challenging my personal status quo. I was on a mission to better myself and connect with the most accomplished women in Human Resources and recruiting in Houston. Through my efforts, I was able to meet and learn from some of the most well-respected women in this field. One such contact that had the greatest impact was Veronica Ramirez who offered me more than just a job, she offered me the ability to positively impact people’s careers and companies cultures. Embarking on this new professional path, there were a few tools in my box cultivated over the years that I figured would continue to produce results in this new role: Team Leadership (communicating effectively), Thought Leadership (solving problems, strategizing, innovating), Personal Leadership (resilient and adaptable, accountability) and Results Leadership (execution, driving for results) but going from a large public team of 350k+ to a private team with fewer than 15 employees was a bit of culture shock and I quickly realized the areas I needed to continue to grow in. Those areas were engaging and inspiring others and relating to others. My role became less about black and white metrics and more about people. I now needed to quickly establish rapport with strangers and figure out their professional pains and desires in order to help connect them with an opportunity that offered them something they weren’t currently getting. Veronica wanting to help gave me the gift of Landmark. It was through this experience that I personally grew resulting in a transformative life change in my perspective of self and the world around me.
