Marcelo Lavall is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Rio de Janeiro office and a member of the Industrial and Energy practices. With 15 years of experience in executive search, he has developed projects for local publicly-traded companies, family-owned groups, multinational companies, and investment funds.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Marcelo spent nearly five years with another global executive search firm, where he led the infrastructure and natural resources practices in Brazil, serving clients in CEOs succession projects, board members and senior executive searches, board assessments, and a wide range of leadership consulting projects. Previously, he led the advisory practice of a large local firm, developing projects in corporate governance, organizational design, executive assessment, leadership development, and executive compensation.

Before his career in executive search, Marcelo worked in the oil & gas sector for eight years at Petroleo Ipiranga and Petrobras, where he held roles in engineering, logistics, operations, commercial, and strategic planning. He is a native Portuguese speaker and is fluent in English.
