Willem started his career in banking at ABN AMRO, where he held several management positions in Commercial and Wholesale Banking. He moved to ABN AMRO Brussels to become the Head of Integrated Energy, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals. After returning to the Netherlands he became the Regional Director Rotterdam for Fortis Commercial Banking. Later he held the role of General Manager Commercial Banking the Netherlands, Scandinavia and China. He closely worked with his international clients to fulfill their Strategy, leading to consecutive Financing and M&A issues. Prior to joining Amrop he was the CEO of ProDelta in Rotterdam, a family owned company in Logistic Real Estate, Large Crane Leasing and Private Equity. The largest portfolio company was Riwal, a rental company which is represented in 18 countries. Willem was a non-executive board member in Riwal's one-tier board driving transformation, responsible for Financing, Risk, Talent Development, Hiring and International affairs and Strategy. He holds a Masters Degree in Law from Leiden University in the Netherlands. He has over 25 years of experience in the Financial sector as well as in Private Equity Investment and Real Estate. Willem is a graduate of IESE and he finished Leadership and Venture Capital & Private Equity Programs at Harvard. Recently he graduated from the Senior Executive Program at London Business School. He is a non-executive board member of several companies. A native Dutch speaker he is fluent in English, German and he possesses good working knowledge of French. Willem has worked both in the financial and corporate sector and deeply understands the evolving demanding strategic environments. His focus has always been on getting "the right people on the bus". Willem has an eye for strategic innovation, disruption and getting the subsequent leadership in place.
