Biography
Kim DeCoste joins Sheer Velocity as a Partner with her principal focus areas being Technology, Higher Education/eLearning, Security, Energy & Sustainability, Healthcare Technology, Entertainment, Aerospace and Non-Profit. She began her career in Los Angeles in the 1990s as an IT Recruiter for numerous public, private, and non-profit organizations and has enjoyed success across industries in information technology. She still enjoys an excellent relationship with many of her earliest clients. Most recently, Kim comes from an Entrepreneurial background, founding her own Boutique Employment Consulting firm in 2007, DeCoste & Associates, which provided additional services including Executive Coaching, Public Speaking and Media. She published her first book, Get Real, Ladies: Career Challenges, Changes & Choices (2015, Dauntless Press) where it quickly rose to the Amazon Top-40 list. She is currently working on two more books, Get Real, People: The Five Generation Workforce and Get Real, Graduates: The World of Work. Both books will be available in 2021. Kim has predominantly focused most of her recruiting efforts in Southern California and Colorado. She is also a founding member of the Rocky Mountain Clean Tech Open (2008-11), a clean tech accelerator to find, fund, and foster clean tech startups. She served as the Recruitment Chair and the Chair of Sponsor Expansion. Clean Tech Open has grown to raise $1.2 billion and create over 3,000 clean economy jobs. During her tenure with a media company, ICOSA Media, she helped launch Starto.TV, which was an IP/TV broadcast in which she produced interviews with some of the most recognized leaders of industries from around the world. The magazine, ICOSA, gave her the opportunity to interview and write about world leaders including Bishop Desmond Tutu, Indra Nooyi, former Chairman & CEO of PepsiCo, Scott McNealy, founder of Sun MicroSystems, and Arianna Huffington, among many others. Her work in the community has had her involved with the South Metro Denver Chamber for over 8 years, where she chaired the 2016 annual conference for Women in Business and was the chairperson of the group in 2016-17. In 2011, the Chamber Awarded Kim Outstanding Businessperson of the Year. She is actively involved with Rotary International and is currently the Chair of Public Relations for the Denver Southeast Rotary Club, where she has proudly served for over 8 years. She has also organized PR and logistics for the annual State of the State Luncheon for Rotary which features the Governor of Colorado each year. Kim had the good fortune to go to school in Munich, Germany through Rotary, and she speaks German and Spanish. She received her undergraduate degree from The University of California, Santa Cruz in Language Studies (German & Spanish) & Linguistics. She earned her MBA, Summa Cum Laude, from Jones International University in eCommerce in 2006. She is also a member of the Colorado Authors’ League. When she does have free time, Kim enjoys travel, food, and wine with her husband and son. She also loves art, politics, good books, and NFL football.
