Elan Pratzer is the former managing partner, Canada and is currently managing partner of Caldwell’s Real Estate Practice, and a member of the firm’s Financial Services, Private Equity, and Industrial practices, with particular expertise leading assignments to find transformational C-suite talent. With more than 30 years of business experience and over 25 years in executive search, Elan is a trusted advisor to many of Canada’s leading business executives, entrepreneurs and board members. Recent assignments include: CEO, OPTrust; EVP and CIO, iA Financial Group; CEO, Home Capital; Head of Blackrock Canada, and the CEO of Torstar. Experience Prior to joining Caldwell, Elan was the founder and CEO of Executive Risk Group Ltd., a provider of risk management solutions for directors, officers and trustees. Elan sold Executive Risk in 2012 to a US-based re-insurer. He was previously the managing director of a private, Canadian-based merchant bank. Elan’s executive search career began when he was 19 and included managing what became Egon Zehnder’s Toronto office. He built his own firm (Pratzer & Partners) which, through organic growth and acquisition, included offices in Toronto, Chicago and New York. He ultimately sold his firm to Korn Ferry in 2000, wherein he became managing director, Canada, responsible for offices in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Education Elan earned a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto.
