Alistair Macrae leads the firm’s Australia operations, as well as the Corporate Officers Practice for the region. He focuses on Chief Financial Officer and General Legal Counsel successions, assessments and search assignments across all sectors for both public and private companies. Alistair also specializes in board successions, specifically in Chair of the Audit Committee appointments. More broadly, he works with leading international organizations to help build leadership talent in corporate officer functions. Alistair splits his time between the Melbourne and Sydney offices. Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Alistair spent six years with Fairfax Media Limited, one of Australia's largest media groups, most recently as the CFO for a division comprising many of the company's digital businesses. In this role, he provided commercial and financial support to the CEO and focused on M&A, post merger integration and business unit strategic planning. Earlier, Alistair was with Tabcorp Holdings Limited, Australia's largest gambling and entertainment group, working in Corporate Strategy & Development. Here, his responsibilities included strategic development and planning, due diligence, public market M&A, divestments and other corporate development activities. He began his career with Ernst & Young, working within the Minerals, Energy and Utilities Practice. Alistair received his BCom from the University of Melbourne and his MBA from The University of Melbourne - Melbourne Business School. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.
