Juan Antonio Bustillo Ph.D is Partner Director of the TRANSEARCH offices in Colombia and Venezuela, developing business and conducting board level assignments. He provides board counsel by evaluating and recruiting board members, helping them strengthen their structure and improving governance. He is also responsible for leading the corporate governance practice, board evaluation, succession planning and consulting to family owned companies, in their dynamics, transitions, and development of family protocols. He is considered as one of the pioneers of this practice in Latin America. His expertise of more than 35 years has earned him a strong reputation. Before entering executive search, Juan Antonio was Arthur D´Little´s Director for Latin America where he successfully managed cross-country projects in Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil and the Dominican Republic. For 10 years he worked with the main shareholder of the Grupo Polar in Venezuela, as Advisor and Business Director. Prior to that he held management positions within Companía Shell de Venezuela and Coca-Cola Export Corporation. Juan Antonio has an extensive first-hand board experience as Board Director with diverse groups of clients of the commercial, services, industry and social interest foundations. He has strong experience in research and teaching with leading business schools offering seminars and conferences related to board governance and family businesses. He was founder of the “Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administracion” IESA/Caracas where he was its Academic Dean and board member. He was also a visiting professor at Indiana University. Dr. Bustillo holds a professional degree in Economics from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas and completed a Master Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Indiana University, a Master of Science in Business (MSB) from Northwestern University and holds a doctorate, (PhD) in management from the same
