Gerald joins Alexander Hughes UK from January 2021. Gerald has Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce with specialisation in Banking from the University of Pretoria and Master’s Degree in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa School of Business Leadership. Gerald started his career in 1989 in the financial services sector having worked for 2 of South Africa’s largest banks before moving to the UK in 2006. Since moving to UK, Gerald worked as an independent consultant for some of the biggest names in the sector, leading large global teams in successfully delivering significant global programmes. He has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the financial services sector in the UK and has specifically developed a solid understanding of financial crime risk management and the importance of having independent compliance, risk and audit management capabilities in the sector – “3 lines of defence model”. Additionally, Gerald is well experienced in resourcing complex large-scale programmes and initiatives. With this background, knowledge and keen passion for attention to detail, Gerald brings expertise to the firm to successfully partner with our clients to ensure we provide them with the most suitable candidates to meet the needs of a very demanding and challenging environment in financial institutions.
