Chief Daniel Hahn recently joined Ralph Andersen & Associates following a distinguished and accomplished career of over 34 years in the public sector. Prior to joining Ralph Andersen & Associates, Chief Hahn served two communities in California – City of Sacramento and City of Roseville. His career highlights include being sworn in as Sacramento’s 45th Chief of Police on August 11, 2017, and serving a dynamic and diverse metropolitan population of 530,000 with a total staff of 1,100 (Sworn-760). Serving in California’s capital city brought increased interaction with local, regional, and statewide agencies and heightened inter-agency cooperation. Additionally, In 2011, he completed six years as the City of Roseville’s 15th Chief of Police, serving a suburban population of 140,000 with 132 sworn officers. Chief’s Hahn’s early beginnings and his upbringing have shaped his approach and defined his leadership qualities that he brought to public safety and law enforcement. This engaging and highly communicative style will continue to be the foundation of his endeavors in executive search and consulting. Throughout his professional life, his focus has always been on open dialogue and communication and involving community-based partners to look at new ideas, options, and alternatives. Adopted at three months old and raised in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, he understood the issues facing many youth including lack of basic opportunities for success. When Hahn graduated from Sacramento High School and while attending Sacramento City College, he was persuaded to apply for the Sacramento Police Department as a Community Service Officer. Hired in 1987, he rose through the ranks to Captain. He served in numerous assignments in the Sacramento Police Department including Public Information Officer, High School Criminal Justice Academy Coordinator, Watch Commander, Special Investigations Commander, Patrol Commander, and Personnel Division Commander. Chief Hahn later joined the City of Roseville in his first role as Chief before returning back to his home community of City of Sacramento to conclude his public sector career.
